Siesta Key has been CANCELED! Oh if only that were true, unfortunately… I’m just kidding. Siesta Key has indeed been renewed for season 5 and are currently filming it. But the real news is some of our favorite cast are not returning for this season… Garrett Miller and Kelsey Owens have been officially cut from the show. The reasoning behind their abrupt departure from the show is baffling.
Garrett Miller…
An OG from the very beginning, everyone’s favorite work out-aholic and endearing sweetheart. Given the nickname Gbaby by Cara which caught on everywhere. We the audience got to watch him grow not only his business but also his love life! In season 4 we were introduced to the sweet as pie Makenna and the two are just perfect together. Viewers were quite excited to continue to watch their love story bloom. And then on May 26, 2022 Garrett and Makenna Quesenberry were informed by the production team that they have been cut from the show. No explanation given, just you’re no longer going to be a part of the show. Just like that. That night they went live on Instagram to spill the tea on their thoughts behind MTv’s reasoning.
The video to the left is a cut down version of the live Garrett did. In the live he explains, “Well unfortunately…we’re happy, we’re a happy couple. Mtv doesn’t really condone that.”. He then goes on to say reality tv is just drama and you only see what Mtv wants you to see. Later he connects with Will Gray and they conspire about all the unnecessary drama created by the producers and show runners. Whispering in their ears about who said what and how they think a situation should be handled. Also how they pushed alcohol into several situations, fueling the flames they lit. What we know from the Sam Logan and Juliette Porter breakup, this is a major factor that plays into the show.
Was Mtv trying to stir up and or create drama in their relationship just for entertainment? Seems to me like that wouldn’t be such a stretch to believe. Especially after finding out what happened to Kelsey.
Kelsey Owens…
Another fan favorite as we have also seen her story from the very beginning of the show. Remember when she dated Gbaby? Might have been a short lived relationship but they’ve maintained a special friendship connection. We also watched her go through career changes finding her passion in life. We’ve witnessed the pain she went through with dealing with her mothers health condition. But on August 5, 2022 right after filming a scene, Kelsey was approached by the producers with gut wrenching news. “You’re cut, you will no longer be on the show.” Absolutely devastated, she took to Instagram to break the news to her fans.
What could possibly be their reason for cutting Kelsey? Is it because she is also simply too happy for Siesta Key’s ratings? At the very least they could have thanked her for all that she has put into the show. The whole cast of Siesta Key was stunned. Read their comments below.
Now that Kelsey’s is no longer on the show…
Max Strong, the boyfriend, outed Siesta Key’s producers and the damage they created behind the scenes. He mentions in his comment “The producers and show runners of this show just aren’t good people. They have shown in time and time again since I have been filming by your side. They Lie to your face and tell you they care in order to manipulate you into doing the things they need – all while holding money and episode checks over your head.”
To top everything off, this next quote from his comment wraps back up to why Garrett and Kenna were cut. “I’ve seen it from the minute I walked into this show and have been very vocal about it to them in your defense, which I know is why they didn’t want me in Miami with you”. Because Max had her back, it seems Siesta Key noticed it was becoming increasingly more difficult to manipulate her into whatever situation they wanted. Therefore they cut her from the show.
Should We Cancel Siesta Key?
From the abusive pattern Mtv has with their reality tv shows, it seems Siesta Key is no different. In all honesty it might be time for this network as a whole to be canceled. Oppressing people for a show is not entertaining. Why is this something that seems to be normalized? How come there are so many predator’s in the entertainment business? Plus another good reason to cancel the show is because of the huge loss that has occurred. The only other happy story we have left on the show is Madisson Hausburg. Since she’s happily married, who knows how long before the producers decide that she’s not involved in enough drama to be on the show. In conclusion, Siesta Key should be canceled after this season. It’s just not worth watching any more.
